Now Live.
AquaDraft — a tool for simulating your tank layout before you buy — has officially launched today.
“What driftwood would look great here?” “Where should the filter go to keep things tidy?” — these are questions every aquarist wrestles with before setting up a tank. Until now, your only options were to picture it in your head or buy and try. AquaDraft solves that problem right in your browser.
What You Can Do in v0.1.0
No account needed. Completely free. Just open it and start.
- Drag and drop driftwood, rocks, plants, filters, and lights into a 3D space
- Adjust substrate shape, slope, and material color with sliders
- Budget simulator: enter prices for placed items and see the running total in real time
- Amazon purchase links organized by category
- Save and reload your layout as a JSON file
Why We Built This
One of the toughest parts of aquascaping is the cost of mistakes. You pick a rock, a piece of driftwood, bring it home — and only then realize it’s not quite right. No refunds. The gear just piles up. If you’ve kept a tank, you’ve probably been there at least once.
AquaDraft is a tool to lower that cost. Try things freely in the simulator, commit to “this is it,” then buy. When that cycle becomes the norm, more people can enjoy aquascaping without fear.
We want the richness and depth of the aquarium world to reach more people. That’s the hope behind this tool — to play a small part in spreading aquascaping culture.
This Is Just the Beginning
v0.1.0 is a starting point. Here’s a look at planned updates.
Coming Soon
- Recommended product links: Beyond category search, we’re preparing pinpoint “recommended” links for specific materials.
- More material variants: Driftwood and rock options are still limited. Triangle driftwood, root-style pieces, lava rock, Koke stone — popular choices are coming in gradually.
Longer-Term Roadmap
- Fish placement: Add fish models to check scale and balance with your layout. “Wait, that rock is huge” — this feature prevents that surprise.
- Thermometer & heater placement: Design your layout while confirming where devices will actually go.
- External model import: Load 3D models made in Blender to place custom driftwood or special-size equipment.
- Interior simulator integration: Visualize a tank in your actual room to plan the full interior balance.
Every feature points in one direction: lower the barrier to aquascaping and make it more enjoyable. Your feedback while using the app becomes the next update.
Give It a Try
Whether you already have a tank, are just getting started, or are “kind of curious” — just open it and play around.
Feedback and requests are welcome at the email address on the Help page. It keeps us going.
We hope the world of aquariums reaches a few more people.
